We achieved great traffic figures for January and they’re looking even better for February. It’s just a shame the kids had to go on half-term (traffic always drops). In January we reached a new record of 1.6m visits in a day, a record we broke on 24 February with 1.72m – our highest Monday figure ever. That equates to roughly 1.5m unique visitors (where our logs show a unique IP address).
Interesting trends include a significant rise in international traffic. Twenty per cent of our traffic is now coming from overseas – maybe making a case for a Choices Worldwide?
Year on year we have seen overall traffic rise 57%. A lot of that rise is being driven by new devices. More than 60% of visits are now from mobiles, tablets or something other than a desktop – a key reason why we need to move to responsive design.
And what are these visitors looking at? Health A-Z treatments and conditions. We’ve seen a 56% rise in people viewing our content pages. Alongside a 6% rise in people looking up health and care services and a 10% rise in people looking at NHS Choices’ lifestyle advice. Not bad, but we are going to do better in the year ahead. People are still telling us they want us to improve our navigation so they can find more of our excellent content.
